Why This Event?
This event is tailored to provide a lovely evening of excitement for those individuals, groups and corporations who are wishing for night of cocktails, great company, out of the ordinary items to bid on and last but certainly not least, thrilling entertainment for a great cause.
The exposure of this event and the corporate and organizational support of this event provide a clear message of support to those in need in our communities throughout Nova Scotia.
All of the funds raised from this event help people here in Nova Scotia by providing programs and services for those living with HIV/AIDS as well as those most at risk. It’s important to note that almost 50% of our annual budget comes from fundraising events, donor gifts and corporate sponsorship. The majority of the funds raised go directly to programs, service and to help people.
Over the past 3 years ACNS has accomplished meeting the needs of the many new demands for our services from the ever growing amount of funds we distribute to persons living in poverty to the number of new members we serve each year as well as new programs. Our Support Services Program umbrella has an annual budget that exceeds $200,000 per year and only 18% of this is funded through the provincial government. We can do more with your help!
What may not be known is that of the hundreds of people living with HIV/AIDS that we serve, many are unable to work which makes fighting HIV harder. ACNS strives to provide programming that will assist people in obtaining a higher level of wellness through education, support and referral that would not otherwise be provided without our services.
Monies raised from events like this also help to fund education & prevention programs for youth at risk, women, gay men, capacity-building programs with organizations across Nova Scotia to respond to HIV/AIDS in their own communities.
ACNS is often the 1st point of contact for people who are seeking information on HIV testing, education and support.
Where does the money go?
Stays in Nova Scotia to support people living with HIV/AIDS and those at risk;
It is important to note again that the majority of our annual budget is supported through events like this one; without our corporate sponsors, this event and your participation we could not do what we do!
We have a long history of fundraising and providing services in the context of community needs which ensures each dollar spent is helping in some way and that our plan for helping has been well thought out.
While we have had much success in sustaining and maintaining our programs and services in the face of increased demand, we look forward to the future where we will be in a position to offer more – more often.
